Domaine de Chaussy

Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, Ardèche, France

Mountain air and brightly coloured blooms at a lush family friendly parc

  • Splash about in one of five family friendly pools or lounge right alongside
  • Challenge the family to a mini golf, basketball or table tennis tournament
  • Enjoy aqua aerobics by day, cocktails and parties by night

We think the 4* Domaine de Chaussy feels like a woodland retreat – the perfect place to recharge your batteries and get closer to nature.

You’ll find your parc surrounded by lush greenery and towering oak trees just three kilometres from the Ardèche River. The local area is famous for its white-water canoeing and there’s a host of outdoor activities on your doorstep including horse riding, treetop ziplining and cycling.

The first thing we like to do when we arrive is book a massage at the wellness area, before diving into the heated covered pool. You’ll have plenty of time to unwind at its sauna and whirlpools while the kids are busy hunting for treasure or doing arts and crafts at the children’s club – where there’s even days out for tricky-to-entertain teenagers.

Looking to lace up your hiking boots? Why not try one of the many nature trails that crisscross their way through the countryside surrounding the parc? It isn’t every day you get to savour the great French outdoors in all its glory!

Aquatic area

Set yourself up by the sun loungers for a whole day of poolside fun – it’s one of our favourite things to do here. There are five pools of varying depths, catering for everyone from tiny tots to adults. Older kids will love the large lido pool and water slides, younger ones will charge straight for the sprayground. You’ll love the heated, covered pool for morning swims.

Local area

The lush Ardèche region is in the southeast of France, an area famed for its rolling hills, forests, gorges and centuries-old villages. It’s also home to one of the most celebrated natural wonders in the whole of France – the Gorges de l’Ardèche.

Walking and cycling are popular in the area. If you pop into the Tourist Office at Vallon Pont d’Arc they’ll be able to point you in the direction of good routes. The region is also known for its archaeological and historical sites and you can visit various caves including the Grautte Chauvet. A drive along the Corniche road, which overlooks the gorges, isn’t to be missed. The views are spectacular!
