They’re all heated so they’re perfect for those rare days when the weather’s less than perfect. The restaurant organises themed evenings with special offers, including all-you-can-eat mussels and French fries and giant paellas. Head to the snack bar for freshly baked breads and pastries. Lou Pignada Ondres is in Landes, a much-loved region of southwestern France famed for its tall pine trees and Atlantic beaches. The area immediately outside the parc is lovely and green, filled with cycle paths and hiking trails. The most famous is the 1200km Vélodyssée cycle route, which passes the parc and runs all the way from Roscoff to Hendaye in Spain.

Ondres Plage, just two kilometres from the parc, is the closest beach and there’s a shuttle bus straight there. You’ll also find several lakes dotted across the region that make great spots for picnics. We recommend Lake Hossegor, a 20-minute drive from the parc. Oysters are farmed in the lake’s tidal waters – order a dozen while you’re here!
