Bury St Edmunds
- A beautiful part of the world! The swimming pool complex is absolutely fantastic, and was the saving grace when one family member's illness meant we couldn't venture far afield.
Eurocamp couriers were helpful and supportive, the parc reception staff were less so.
Our kids loved the mini disco, and the evening entertainment was very... entertaining! Good shop, bit pricey but only to be expected when they have a captive audience.
Away from the pools, parts of the site were a little tired and sometimes smelly, and it was far less attractively landscaped than other parcs we've visited, with little screening between pitches. It's really crammed, pitches are small and as a result it looks quite untidy.
I rated the parc 8 as an average - pool area gets 10 out of 10, but the layout, untidiness, smell and surly staff pulled it down.
We had a pitch on the edge of the site, and our decking was on the back of our mobile home which would have been great if not for the public footpath right behind us, behind a wire fence, which left us very little privacy.
We could have used more shade - the umbrella stand can't be budged it's so heavy, but we needed to be able to move the umbrella around during the day as we had no other shade on our decking at all.
Mobile home itself was ok, we got what we were expecting! A little scruffy (hole in the sofa and shutters missing), and a nasty invasion of ants in the kitchen from the joint between worktop surfaces. There were a few powercuts on parc during our stay, for no obvious reason, but this had a very immediate impact on the air conditioning in the mobile home.
The kids (4,10,11) loved the pool and the beach, and if they're happy on holiday we're happy - it's a great area and a super parc for families with younger kids.
