Your parc offers tennis courts for family tournaments, multisports facilities including basketball, and football fields for burning off those calorie-rich Limburgian treats! The playground features climbing frames, swings, and outdoor toys positioned under mature trees providing natural shade. Bike hire is available nearby, essential given the extraordinary cycling routes that web through the surrounding countryside.

We love this corner of North Limburg. Afferden itself is a quintessential Dutch village rather than a tourist destination - and it's all the better for it. Small, authentic, with that laid-back Limburg atmosphere that makes this region so wonderfully relaxing. The real treasure is De Maasduinen National Park surrounding you. This 4,500-hectare nature reserve features the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands - an extraordinary landscape shaped by the Maas River over millennia. Sand dunes, dense forests, heathlands, fens, and crystal-clear lakes create habitat for beavers, foxes, roe deer, badgers, over 100 bird species, and even smooth snakes. The visitor centre at Well (20 minutes away) sits suspended in an old lock basin connecting Reindersmeer and Leukermeer lakes - interactive screens show information about this extraordinary ecosystem. Reindersmeer itself is stunning: created by sand excavation, the water's unusual acidity from pyrite deposits creates an azure color with crystal clarity letting you see 10 metres down. It’s quite breathtaking.
