A five-star parc in a forest setting

Esterel was the first 5-star parc on the French Riviera and you’ll soon discover why...

The parc is covered with flowers and has two pool complexes, including a jungle-themed toddler pool with mini waterslides. The pool has been extended to include a large splash park with lots of water games and a twisty slide for older children. This steeply-terraced parc is home to a number of delightful buildings that include a massage centre (ideal for a little pampering) and a baby club for really little ones. You’ll also find a restaurant, takeaway and bar, as well as a host of great activities nearby. Fancy a round or two? There’s a golf club nearby, and Roquebrune offers excellent walking and canoeing. Sounds perfect!

Good location and facilities, however there are one or two steep inclines and you need to be mobile which fortunately we were.

We first started camping with Canvas in 1971 but have not been so bitterly disappointed with a site since. It is hilly but that is not the worst thing about it. It is dangerous as the roads are not clearly marked; the maps of the site do not accurately display the road network and those that are positioned around the camp not only vary in accuracy and type of display but do not show one where one is in relation to the map (ie there is no 'You are here' mark). Accuracy of the maps is vital when one first arrives especially when it gets dark and for safety reasons should there be an emergency. We spent 25 minutes trying to get to the reception after first arriving and a similar time trying to find the van on returning from having our first dinner and had to resort to asking the reception staff to guide us. The sites Eurocamp had around us were cramped. We had just sufficient room to park our car beside the van but the van next door seemed to have no designated area and parked their car on the road which made getting in and out difficult - they had no where else to park they said. The pools were OK but the facilities to shower or go to the toilet we very limited and there was nowhere to change other than in the two toilets. The water park looked fun and one could swim across the main pool when there were few around. The shop was just adequate. Access to Agay was of course good but in general the site is not a patch on Douce Quientude which we have visited both with Canvas and Eurocamp. I doubt we will ever return to this site.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s such a shame to hear that you were disappointed with some aspects of your stay on the parc. With so many to choose from, deciding on the perfect parc can be difficult and so we’re sorry to hear that this parc was not for you on this occasion. We do look forward to welcoming you again on a Eurocamp holiday again soon. Customer Care Team.

We had a family holiday for my parents 50th wedding anniversary here and it was a real mixed bag. Not sure if it was September and the site was closing down but this place is not suitable for a big group and we felt Eurocamp could have told us this.

Some good points and bad points:

Good Points:

Scenery - Lovely area and some lovely views from certain parts of the camp

Pool - Great pool area, good fun slides and lots of sunbeds free (although it was September). Floor surface is very harsh, but it stops you from running!

Take Away - The two guys who run the take away were a life saver, friendly, food was good and very reasonable.

Bad Points:

Staff - Apart from take away, ever member of staff was unfriendly.

Shop - Miserable lady, doesn't even make eye contact with you, carries on talking to someone else while she serves you, closes the shop when she feels like it.

Bar - The lady who runs the bar is rude, she was just short with us at first but this got worse. On our last night we tried to take two pizza's on to the bar terrace, the bar was empty (and doesn't serve food) the court yard where you are supposed to eat was cold and dark and we'd bought drinks from the bar all week. She wouldn't allow us to eat there, when we protested when shouted at us and called us rude ..... that's right , we're the rude ones.

Reception: Don't bother them, your presence on site is a total inconvenience to them. The keep you standing for a few minutes before they acknowledge you (typing on a keyboard does prevent you from saying hello) , they don't smile, they don't laugh. When we arrived they were just down right awkward with us, so unfriendly. We were greeted by Arslan ..... the master of customer service, who told us : "This is our campsite, not Eurocamps"

Restaurant : They wouldn't serve us because there were 20 of us. We emailed in advance to try and book a table - no reply and no acknowledgement, we offered to be spilt into 4 tables , we offered to come any night , but all we got was "it's not possible" and they walked off .... really rude , plus the restaurant was empty most nights anyway.

Pool Toilets : Not clean, there was an awful mess in one of them and it stayed like it all day long.

No BBQ 's allowed: This was due to the forest fires, which is totally understandable, but Eurocamp could have told us in advance, we'd planned to BBQ two nights, with no service at the restaurant this was a problem

No Walking in Forest: Again due to forest fires .... Eurocamp could have told us

Noise Tolerance: I'm amazed at the comments about the noise levels, it was like a retirement home when we were there. We gathered round each other’s caravans at night, yes we played some music and had a laugh , but we turned music off and went to bed by 11pm. But we got constant complaints and the lovely staff came around at 10:50 and told us we had to be quiet.

Overall, we had a good holiday, but this was in spite of the staff. It felt hostile, I really don't think they like the British.

When we spoke to the Eurocamp staff they were well aware of what the staff were like and told us about a lot of the problems they've had with them during the year. Eurocamp need to do something about the staff.
